As part of a 140 acre solar development, approximately 40 acres of woodlands and wetlands were set aside for conservation by Prism. In doing so, all of the wooded property on the solar development parcels was preserved in its original old growth state. A local land conservancy identified high value native habitat in the wetland area of the property, which is also included in the conservation area. The conservation area was left unfenced to maintain the wildlife corridor which is adjacent to a railroad corridor.

This conservation corridor provides a natural backdrop to the adjacent Traverse Area Recreation Trail (TART).

As part of a 300 acre Manistee County, MI solar development starting construction in 2023, approximately 75 acres of open field buffer and woodland are being set aside for conservation by Prism. The conservation includes field areas that will be converted to native pollinator friendly vegetation from non-native turf grass. The woodland areas include old growth trees and wetlands.

Native and Pollinator friendly? What if a solar field was more than just a solar field? Prism works with local experts to design local native seed mixes that are pollinator friendly, low growth, low maintenance, and habitat enriching.
